Every new account starts with 100 free credits. Try HiDream O1 (10 credits/panel) to make the most of your starting balance.
Step 1 — Start a new project
Click Create on the left sidebar of your dashboard. Give your project a title and set up your story.
Step 2 — Enter your title and choose a style
Give your comic a title, choose an AI model, select your preferred art style, and pick a format and layout. Click Next Step when you're ready.
Step 3 — Enter your chapter title and content
Enter a chapter title and paste your story content into the editor (up to 5,000 characters per chapter). You can also click Generate Chapter Content for Me to let AI help. Click Next Step when ready.
Step 4 — Cover image and character setup
The AI will automatically generate your comic cover image and identify the characters in your story. You can review and edit each character before proceeding to generate the full chapter.
The more detailed your story text and character descriptions, the better and more consistent your results will be.

Starting balance
Every new account starts with 100 free credits. Credits never expire.
Check your usage anytime in Credit Logs on the bottom left of your dashboard.

If you're just starting out, try HiDream O1 first to preserve your credits. You can always switch models and regenerate.
If your story exceeds 5,000 characters, split it into two or more chapters. This also helps the AI generate more accurate and consistent panels for each part of your story.
Split at a natural scene break — this makes each chapter feel complete and improves generation quality.
Generation failed
- Refresh the page and try generating again
- Check that your credit balance is sufficient
- If the problem continues, email support@tabstory.net with a screenshot of the error
Generation stuck (running too long)
Generation normally takes 2–5 minutes per chapter. If it has been running for more than 10 minutes:
- Refresh the page and check if the chapter shows as completed
- If still stuck, try generating again
- If the problem persists, contact us
Credits are only charged for successful generations. If your generation fails, your credits will not be deducted.
How to improve character consistency
- Open your project page
- Click Character Design at the top of the page
- Add specific details: hair color, eye color, clothing, body type, facial features
- Save and regenerate your chapter
Instead of "a girl with long hair," try "a teenage girl with straight black hair to her waist, bright green eyes, wearing a white school uniform." The more specific, the better.
Can I edit a single panel?
Yes. You can edit and regenerate individual pages without affecting the rest of your chapter.
- Open your project page
- Click Character Design at the top of the page
- Click on the character you want to update
- Upload your own image as the character reference
- Regenerate — the AI will use your image to maintain consistency across panels
Use a clear, front-facing image with good lighting for the best results.
- Open your project page
- Click the Export button at the top of the page
- Your full comic will be downloaded as a PDF file
All comics you create on Tabstory belong to you. You have full commercial rights to publish, sell, or distribute your work freely.
- Open your project page
- Find the chapter in your Chapter List
- Click the ⋮ (three dots) menu on the right side of the chapter
- Select Download ZIP to download all images, or Export Video to export as a video file
Base rate: $0.01 = 1 credit. Larger packs include bonus credits.
All payments are processed through secure encrypted channels.

- Choose your preferred credit pack
- Complete payment — credits are added to your account instantly

Yes. All images and comics you generate on Tabstory belong completely to you.
Can I use my comics commercially?
Yes. You have full commercial rights to everything you create. You can publish, sell, print, or distribute your comics freely — no restrictions.
